Use Downtime to Study English

29 July 2014 by Marc

motivation

Everyone has time that is spent waiting for people or waiting for things to happen, which is sometimes called ‘downtime‘. The next time you have some downtime, study English.

I’ve written before about activities you can use to study or use English in a very short time here.

The next time you have a spare couple of minutes, why not try some of these ideas:

  • Write as many words in English as you can in one category, for example ‘animals’ or ‘more interesting ways to say “big”‘.
  • Think, in English, about what you can see. You might say to yourself, ‘A woman across from me is checking her mobile phone. It’s an old, red mobile phone. The woman is about fifty years old, maybe. She’s wearing a white jacket.’
  • Search Twitter for examples of vocabulary you are struggling to learn from your word cards.
